This piece began as a freeform abstract with a lot of energy. After a couple layers I felt like it needed an image, specifically, a face. I found this perfect image of Toni Morrison in my collage files and turned it into a photo transfer, something I’ve wanted to do for a while. Her face lends a gravity and seriousness the wild strokes of paint needed.
I kept thinking of this word, eftsoons, as a question. How long?
Maybe it’s an answer.
