This painting was the result of a late night racing mind, musing how layers of our life and experiences form like sediment, locking us into particular ways of being.

The science journal geology diagrams speak directly to this idea of unearthing insight, and the overall texture and swirl of chaos is emblematic of what it feels like to dig through a storm of memories, assumptions, and explorations.

When I have leftover paint, I'll deposit it on whatever medium seems best, and this often becomes the base for a future painting. The splattered base blobs here are remnants of at least 2 other projects.
